In January, one person directly accused by the letter of Ghislain Londers dated 19 December 2008 (See “Cassatienota 19 december 2008” under “Immediately after the judgment”), Christine Schurmans, and one person indirectly accused (in his capacity as a representative of the Public Prosecutor) by that same letter, Jean-François Leclercq, reacted seperately to Londers’ public letter. They both considered that Londers, through his initiative, had infringed a number of fundamental rights.
The Belgian press knew about Schurmans’ letter on 27 January 2009 (See the article in La Libre Belgique “Humiliée, la juge Schurmans se rebiffe”: http://www.lalibre.be/actu/belgique/article/477496/humiliee-la-juge-schurmans-se-rebiffe.html).
They knew about Leclerq’s letter on 6 February 2009 (See the article in De Morgen “Onthuld: de vernietigende brief van Procureur-generaal Leclercq aan Londers”: http://www.demorgen.be/dm/nl/989/Binnenland/article/detail/672264/2009/02/06/De-vernietigende-brief-van-procureur-generaal-Leclercq-aan-Londers.dhtml).
